Engage 2026 – Week 6, Semester 1

Week 6 took the program to Bucket Warehouse in Mitchell for a basketball session with Coach Ken.

The day combined physical activity with strong life skill messaging, linking sport to real world decision making and personal responsibility.

Students worked through drills focused on communication, teamwork, and awareness before moving into gameplay that challenged decision making under pressure.

Coach Ken shared his personal story and reinforced how sport can create positive pathways, helping young people move away from negative influences.

A key reflection from the day was – The game is like life. Time outs are self care. Huddles are a chance to reset and refocus.

Behaviour and engagement showed significant improvement, particularly during transport, highlighting the growth in maturity and accountability across the group.

This program is supported by the Australian Government under the Youth Empowerment Program.
