Engage 2026 – Week 2, Semester 1
The Engage Program stepped up in Week 2 with a 10 kilometre hike through challenging terrain from Shannon’s Flat Road to the Murrumbidgee ridge line.
This was the first major physical test for the group, pushing participants to manage fatigue, heat, and steep climbs while working together as a team. Along the way, students carried shared equipment including a battle rope, building accountability and teamwork under pressure.
A key learning moment came when the group reflected on their strategy and adjusted how they supported each other, showing growth in leadership, communication, and problem solving.
There were also strong examples of character, with students helping a member of the public before the hike and supporting each other throughout the day.
Every student who attended completed the full challenge, demonstrating resilience, perseverance, and a growing sense of teamwork.
The Engage Program is supported by the Australian Government under the Youth Empowerment Program.
