We’re currently seeking referrals for our August 2026 Breakthrough Non-Vocational Life Improvement Course in Canberra, ACT!

This program provides eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants with the opportunity to progress into paid employment through Worldview Foundation’s 6-month Intensive Holistic Employment Pathways Program. Approximately 6 paid positions are expected to be available for this intake, subject to eligibility, available positions and funding requirements.

Breakthrough is the first step in this pathway, equipping participants with the confidence, life skills, employment readiness and workplace capability needed to succeed in supported employment.

Breakthrough is the entry point into our employment pathway, designed to help participants build confidence, resilience, cultural identity and employment readiness before progressing into work or further opportunities.

Over 8 training days across 2 weeks, participants will complete:

  • Personal development modules including Build a Positive Mindset, Overcome Challenges, Design Your Life and New Life
  • Employment readiness, workplace expectations and career planning
  • Financial literacy, cyber awareness and First Nations leadership
  • The embedded ACE Foundation Skills Program, developing communication, reading, digital literacy, problem solving and workplace capability through real-world, activity-based classroom learning and practical workplace activities
  • Work Health & Safety, site induction and practical workplace experience
  • Hands-on activities using tools and equipment
  • Daily mentoring, yarning circles and wraparound support throughout the course

The program combines activity-based classroom learning, practical workplace experience, cultural activities and mentoring to prepare participants for sustainable employment.

Suitable participants are:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander males aged 16+
  • Receiving Centrelink payments
  • Linked with an employment provider
  • Interested in hands-on work
  • Able to travel to Worldview Foundation, Canberra ACT

Program Costs

  • Breakthrough fee: $2,200 per participant
  • Lunch provided each training day
  • Graduation ceremony and Certificate of Completion included
  • Practical work experience days include a $30 per day volunteer allowance to assist with food and travel (this is not a wage, is not taxable and does not need to be declared as income)
  • Participants are required to have steel cap boots. High visibility clothing can be supplied if required.

For Job Services Australia providers: the Breakthrough Program can generally be purchased using a participant’s Employment Fund (EPF), subject to your organisation’s internal approval processes. We are happy to provide quotes, invoices and supporting documentation to assist with approvals.

Suitable graduates may be offered a place in our 6-month Intensive Holistic Employment Pathways Program, subject to eligibility, available positions and any applicable funding requirements. We expect to have approximately 6 positions available for this intake. The Intensive Program is scheduled to commence within one week of the Breakthrough course being completed.

Participants in the Intensive Program receive:

  • Paid employment within Worldview Foundation’s social enterprise
  • Continued delivery of the embedded ACE Foundation Skills Program, reinforcing communication, reading, digital literacy, problem solving and workplace capability through real workplace activities
  • Daily mentoring and onsite coaching from experienced mentors
  • Industry training and vocational tickets, including White Card, Forklift and other licences where appropriate
  • Driver Licensing Program support, including funded driving lessons (subject to eligibility)
  • Health, wellbeing and cultural support
  • Ongoing mentoring while transitioning into sustainable external employment
  • Participation in the Young Bruthas Men’s Healing Group, strengthening cultural identity, resilience and peer support

Participants who are not immediately offered a place in the Intensive Program can continue receiving one-on-one mentoring through our Achieving Potential Program, supporting personal development, employment readiness, career planning, job search assistance and goal setting, with the outcome of progressing toward paid employment, while continuing to engage with the Young Bruthas Men’s Healing Group. This ensures participants remain connected, continue building confidence and capability, and are well positioned for future employment and Intensive Program opportunities.

How to Refer Someone

We’re holding a Participant Information Session on Tuesday 21 July 2026, 11am–12pm at Worldview Foundation, Canberra, ACT.

The program will commence on Tuesday 4th of August, 2026:

  • 8 training days delivered over 2 weeks (Tuesday-Friday)
  • 8:30am-2.30pm
  • Worldview Foundation, Canberra ACT
  • 15-20 participants

Referral Process

Participants can be referred by:

  1. Completing the Expression of Interest via the QR code on the Breakthrough flyer (download below!)
  2. Or click the link to email Program Manager (ACT) Jae Lear  or call Jae on 0493 800 579 with participant information.

Following the referral, participants complete our Consent to Release Information form (or parent/carer consent where participants are under 18).
